Ames Construction led a design-build project that required the engineering, procurement, and construction of a shallow well field with a booster pump station, a water treatment facility, and a 5-acre raw water storage pond. Construction of the pump station included the installation of six 400-horsepower vertical turbine pumps and one 200-horsepower vertical turbine pump.

The project was located in a fairly remote mountain community adjacent to the Rockport Reservoir and the Weber River, where crews encountered rocky terrain, floodplain conditions, and silty/sandy soils. The intricate system of delivering water from the well field to the end user required significant coordination and communication from design through construction.

The project scope included the installation of carbon steel, ductile iron, and HDPE piping. Mechanical piping involved the installation of large diameter pneumatic and electrically activated valves. Crews also self-performed 2,000 cubic yards of structural concrete application.
