This design-build project in the undeveloped desert on the outskirts of Phoenix, Arizona, involved earth consisting of conglomerate and caliche. These materials required blasting to excavate more than 450,000 cubic yards of material for the final structural excavation, including 140,000 cubic yards of site grading. The work scope also involved 20,000 linear feet of welded steel pipe and 30,000 linear feet of ductile iron and PVC pipe.
