We’re honored to be named 2026 Business of the Year by the Chester, Illinois, Chamber of Commerce alongside our trade partners, designers, and everyone who contributed to the construction of the Don Welge Memorial Bridge.

This recognition reflects the work of every construction professional and community member who helped bring the new Mississippi River crossing to life.

“The businesses and people we’re recognizing have done more than connect two sides of a river,” said Tom Welge, Board Director of the Chester Chamber of Commerce. “They supported local jobs, strengthened our regional economy, and delivered a structure that will serve the citizens of Chester for decades to come.”

Since September 2023, crews have worked to construct the three-tower, 2,900-foot-long, cable-stayed bridge upstream from the 80-year-old Chester Bridge. A ribbon-cutting is set for July.

Construction Manager Dave Duke and project members accepted the award on behalf of the entire project team, sharing our appreciation for the community that supported the work and employees from start to finish.

We are grateful to the Chester Chamber of Commerce for this recognition and to the community for their partnership and trust. This bridge stands as a shared accomplishment and a lasting investment in the region.
