Ames Construction was the general contractor for supply and installation of this buried large-diameter steel pipeline project that is an integral part of the Utah Lake Drainage Basin Water Delivery System.

The project used a 300-foot-long slide rail shoring system to maintain and safeguard the excavations. Construction was performed in a very narrow right-of-way in a canyon. One side of the work was immediately adjacent to a major highway that had to remain open to traffic, while the other side was adjacent to steep canyon walls. Each section of the 96-diameter pipe was 40 feet long and weighed 54,000 pounds. The project scope included earthwork, aggregate placement, structural concrete and piping.
