Synopsis of Work:

Complete reclamation of an open pit copper mine adjacent to the Chippewa River in Northern Wisconsin. Ames crews performed the mine development and contract mining work, and completed reclamation as the final phase of the companys work at the site. Reclamation work included replacing 5,000,000 cubic yards of waste and overburden back into the excavation in the same sequence it had been removed. Half of the fill material was treated with lime to reduce its acid-generating potential. Topsoil was than re-spread over approximately 500 acres of the disturbed ground prior to reseeding operations.
