Lowes Home Improvement Center site work

Project Location: Prescott, Arizona

Client: Lowes

Synopsis of work:

Southwest Region crews completed earthmoving operations, construction of retaining walls and underground drainage facilities and installation of water and sewer improvements for a new Lowes Home Improvement Center in Prescott, AZ.

Partial scope of work on this project included erosion control, clear and grubbing and excavation of over 650,000 cubic yards of cut and fill, as well as processing 66,500 cubic yards of material for the retaining wall backfill and the top five feet of the site. Crews constructed 40,000 square feet of retaining wall, with heights of 50 feet. The box culvert work included more than 3,500 cubic yards of concrete, with over 70 feet of fill materials over the top of the 1,000 linear foot culvert. Ames crews also installed all waterlines, sewer lines, sanitary lines and the underground water detention system. The project also included the finish, the building pad, parking lot and landscaped areas, as well as curb and paving. This particular Lowes project was very challenging due to the lack of a laydown/staging area and several change orders, including multiple waterline changes, box culvert changes, rock demo and wall redesigns. Without a staging area, all deliveries had to be coordinated with the start of each operation.
